Chapter 2:Barra:'Bharraigh'

Barra,is one of the most recent islands I have visited and despite its compact size with only one main road which travels in a loop round the island,it has plenty to offer.Castlebay offers an impressive sight with its lone Kisimul castle which stands suspended out in the harbour,surveying the ocean beyond. A short journey over a bridge will take you to the island of Vatersay which boasts some beautiful beaches with white sand and clear water,perfect for swimming.The airport at Barra is also worth seeing as planes land on the beach.
